AIHT 2026
Peer review for the AI in Health Technologies course · Aalto University and ELLIS Institute Finland · Online, 6–14 December 2026
Call for papers
AIHT 2026 is the peer review of student project reports in the AI in Health Technologies course at Aalto University and ELLIS Institute Finland. Teams of two to three students submit their report on Microsoft CMT, and every student reviews one report from another team (single-blind). Reviews are returned to authors on 14 December 2026 and count towards the course grade. There is no in-person event.
Any topic related to AI in health technologies is in scope; there is no fixed topic list. Example directions include:
- Medical image analysis
- Generative models for biomedical data
- Language and vision-language models for health
- Physiological signals and wearable sensor data
- Predictive modelling and clinical decision support
Reports describe a focused question answered with experiments. Two teams working on the same topic is fine.

Author guidelines
- Authors are student teams of two to three enrolled in the AI in Health Technologies course.
- There is no registration fee.
- Reports are written in English.
- Plagiarism, or fabricated results or citations, results in a score of zero for the project.
- No attendance is required; submission and review take place online on CMT.
- Late submissions lose one point for each started 24-hour period after the deadline.
Submission guidelines
- Format: written in LaTeX using the MICCAI template (Springer LNCS), submitted as the exported PDF, not the .tex source
- Length: six to eight pages, excluding references
- Font size and margins: as set by the template; do not modify them
- Abstract: included in the PDF as in the template, and entered in the CMT submission form
- Anonymity: not required; review is single-blind, so author names and affiliations are included
- References: not counted towards the page limit
- Review rounds: one round, with no rebuttal
- One upload per team
A report outside six to eight pages, or not in the MICCAI template, loses one point for each issue.
Where to submit
Reports are submitted through Microsoft CMT. The link to the AIHT 2026 CMT site will be available here shortly. Reports are not accepted by email.
How to submit
You need a Microsoft CMT account before you can submit. Register with your Aalto email address, so that your submission and review can be matched to your course record.
- Create a CMT account: account creation guide
- Submit your report: author submission guide
Review process
Each report is assigned to two to three students from other teams. Review is single-blind: reviewers see the author names, authors do not see reviewer identities. There is no rebuttal round, and reviews are final.
Each review has six required fields: a summary, strengths and weaknesses tied to specific evidence in the report, questions to the authors, an overall score of 1, 2 or 3, and a self-assessed confidence. The scoring criteria are given in the CMT review form and in a peer review guideline published to course participants by 22 November 2026.
